In-Country Managing Director

Seeking a visionary and passionate Sierra Leonean leader to serve as Managing Director for a Community Based Organization (CBO) that utilizes business approaches to improve the quality of life for those living in extreme poverty in rural villages in Kailahun District.

Requirements

  • Sierra Leonean National
  • BA/BS degree, Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 or more years of post-graduate experience
  • Technical expertise in Education, WASH, Agriculture, or Income Generation
  • Deep understanding of training
  • Strong communication ability. Fluent in oral and written English, Fluent Mende speaker
  • Strong computer literacy
  • High level of integrity and honesty
  • Ability to live simply in a rural environment

Responsibilities

Program Leadership and Management

  • Plan and implement all programs
  • Lead strategic discussions
  • Implement new program procedures
  • Lead expansion efforts
  • Find improvements and efficiencies for the benefit of the organization

Operational Effectiveness

  • Oversee finances
  • Pursue funding through in-country proposals
  • Design and implement all administrative and operational policies
  • Ensure the organization meets all local legal requirements
  • Ensure systems are in place to eliminate areas of risk

Networking and Partnerships

  • Maintain good networking relationships with governmental authorities, travelers, interns, donors, other local practitioners and the general public
  • Coordinate strategic partnerships with local and national organizations

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5 or more years of post-graduate experience

  • Strong communication skills. Fluent in oral and written English. Fluent Mende speaker

Employment Type: Full-time

Start-Date: August 31, 2012

Salary: Highly competitive, commensurate with experience
