JOIN A SERVICE LEARNING TRIP TO SIERRA LEONE!

Most years, a group of approximately 15 Americans travels to the OneVillage villages for a 2 week service learning experience. The itinerary typically includes a 2 days exploring the capital city of Freetown, 9 days living with a host family in a rural village while working with the villagers on an assigned task, and 2 days of debriefing on  relaxing coastal beach. This is a great opportunity for professionals eager to put their skills to use, youth interested in development, or anyone looking for a vacation that will change your life.

INTERN WITH ONEVILLAGE

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student interested in development? OneVillage offers internship opportunities throughout the year with flexible dates. Get ready for “the toughest internship you’ll ever love” in rural Sierra Leone, West Africa. Although you’ll face both physical and emotional challenges while living in a subsistence farming village, you will have an amazing opportunity to work alongside Sierra Leoneans as they move from extreme poverty to middle income.  With hard work, introspection, and dedication, you will have a tremendous impact on the lives of some of the poorest and kindest people in the world. You will come to understand what it means to live in extreme poverty, and in doing so, gain insight to “the other half of the world”. Interns must self-fund their own travels yet life in the villages is extremely affordable. Interns typically specialize in one or more of the following categories: Water & Sanitation, Health, Education, Agriculture, Income Generation.

VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME

OneVillage is committed to holistic development in the villages and village self-sufficiency. For this reason, we do not aspire to grow our staff in the US. However, there are several smaller projects throughout the year for volunteers. This could include activities such as event planning, administration, outreach, etc.
